We are looking to go camping in or around the Ponta da Oura area in Mozambique. We have a 4x4 caravan so quite a large campsite is needed. We are not too concerned about all the facilities as we are self sufficient. Does anyone know of any campsites close to the beach up that way. Your assistance will be appreciated.
Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank
Been there, done that. The town Ponta Da Oura is nice but the camp site is not so nice. Rather stay at Ponta da Malongane around 7km north of Ponta Da Oura. There is a fantastic reef with brilliant snorkling, large shady trees and fairly large camp sites. The beach is about 30m walk through vegetation - stunning! The camp site have electricity and good ablutions with hot showers.
Enjoy!!

Hi Frank Ponta da Oura has been destroyed in a fire about a month ago, they are buys rebuilding it. We also prefer Ponta Malongane. There is a very nice website with all the info www.malongane.co.za and contact info.

Hi,
It was mostly the dive camps which burned down in Ponta do Oura, the main campsite was not affective by the fires. Just got back from Malongane and will also recommend it.
